2026 Arnie Robinson Invite Meet Info

The San Diego Mesa College track and field program will be hosting  the annual Arnie Robinson Invitational on Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21. The two-day event honors the legendary Olympic gold medalist.

Arnie Robinson graduated from San Diego Mesa College before transferring to San Diego State University. A product of Morse High School, Robinson put himself on the map after winning the 1970 NCAA Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the long jump.  In 1972 and 1976, Robinson won the Olympic Trials in the long jump, placing 3rd at the 1972 Olympics and then grabbing gold at the 1976 games. Robinson won seven national long jump titles, six of them being outdoors. In 1979, Robinson returned to Mesa College and dedicated his life and resources to helping track and field grow in San Diego. He spent more than $35,000 of his own money on track and field equipment to be used by youth athletics.
