Athletic Training  

The Athletic Department believes in the provision of quality physical care for all student-athletes.  The Athletic Training program is committed to the care of all Mesa College student-athletes as they provide hands on care before, during, and after practices and contests.  Mesa's athletic training staff is not only focused on the rehabilitation of its student-athletes but is also focused on the prevention of injuries and caters to the individual needs of each student-athlete.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Athletic Training department at San Diego Mesa College is to provide the best possible health care for our student-athletes. The goal is a swift and safe return to competition from sports related injuries and illnesses.

Information for Prospective Student-Athletes

ALL MESA COLLEGE STUDENT-ATHLETES MUST PASS A SPORTS PHYSICAL GIVEN BY A LICENSED M.D. or D.O. PRIOR TO PARTICIPATING IN ANY INTERCOLLEGIATE PRACTICES. Several free physical dates/times will be arranged at the Mesa College Athletic Training Room (ES-107).

Before your Physical

All Student-Athletes must complete the Pre-Physical Paperwork PRIOR to attending their scheduled physical. The pdf files can be typed or written, and must be completely filled out, signed and then turned in to a Mesa College Athletic Trainer at the time of the team-scheduled pre-participation physical.

Getting your own Physical

If you are unable to attend one of our free preparticipation exams then you must obtain your own physical from a U.S. licensed M.D. or D.O. This must have been given within 60 days prior to participation. You can download the physical form which needs to be signed by your physician:

You will need to personally bring your completed physical exam form to the Athletic Training Room (ES-107) where additional forms will be completed prior to your participation. Your physical is subject to review/approval and possibly additional evaluation by Mesa's Team Physician(s).

 

Interested in Becoming an Athletic Trainer??

The Mesa College Athletic Training Room is an affiliated clinical site for the San Diego State University Athletic Training Education Program. SDSU places approximately 6-8 athletic training students at Mesa to obtain hands-on experience each semester. Students rotate to other affiliated sites within the program.
