Olympians on Fire: A Winning Streak Fueled by Teamwork and Tenacity

The women’s soccer team season may have begun with a few stumbles, but the coaching staff, led by Head Coach Melissa Warner, never doubted the team's ability. Coach Warner kept reminding the squad that their breakthrough was imminent. "The team's mentality remained strong, and I never doubted what they are able to do,” she remarked. "We knew our moment would come, and it certainly has." The Olympians are currently riding an impressive four-game winning streak, outscoring their opponents by a dominant margin of 28-0.

Last Four Games:
9/13 vs. Grossmont 9-0
9/17 vs. Imperial Valley College 6-0
9/20 vs. SD City College 5-0
9/27 vs. Cuyamaca College 8-0

"In any sport, especially at the season's start, building trust and understanding among teammates is important,” Coach Warner explained. "While we're playing at a high level now, we can't afford to relax. We have goals this season, and we need to continue to improve if we are going to achieve them.

The team believes in a strong team-first philosophy, emphasizing that success stems from collective effort rather than individual play. The players have wholeheartedly embraced this approach. "We've discovered that by taking calculated risks in the attacking third and trusting our teammates to capitalize on those opportunities, we're creating more scoring chances," one player shared.

While the offensive play has been shining, the defense has been equally instrumental in the teams success. They have maintained an impenetrable backline, not conceding a single goal in their last four matches. Coach Warner attributes this defensive solidity to a combination of factors, stating, "Our defensive organization and communication have been outstanding. Additionally, our goalkeepers have been exceptional, and the extra time they are putting outside of regular practice is showing in the matches.
