Men’s Cross Country Team Triumph at PCAC Championships, Poised for State Title Run

Head Coach Sean Ricketts and both cross country teams are hitting their stride as they enter the championship season. Ricketts praised both the men's and women's teams for their execution and teamwork at the recent PCAC Championships held at Victor Valley College, stating, "Both programs did an outstanding job executing the race plan and running as a team. I was thrilled to see their commitment throughout the race."

The Olympian men clinched another title with a team score of 23, followed by San Bernardino Valley College (53) and Cuyamaca College (79). The race featured a nail-biting finish, with Mesa runners Ronald Way (20:40.5) and Ian Rosen (20:41.6) overtaking Cuyamaca's Ivan Guzman in the final stretch. Guzman had led the race from the start, but Way and Rosen's powerful kicks secured the top two spots for Mesa. A pack of Olympians, including Alex Leyor (20:52.1), Garret Cloyd (20:54.5), Allen Malo (20:56.1), Josh Edwards (21:01.8), and Luciano Roberts (21:10.8), followed close behind.

The women's team flexed their muscles, sweeping the top eight spots. Defending state champion Alexis Noble led the charge, finishing in 19:07.4, with Joelle Tonne (19:07.8) and Natalie Allen (19:52.8) close behind. Kate Touchet (20:02.5), Suhey Arce (20:03.6), Kayla Haas (20:06.3), Haidyn McKenzie (20:13.3), and Isabelle Moret (20:29.5) completed Mesa's impressive performance. The final team tally: San Diego Mesa College 18, San Bernardino Valley College 63, Chaffey College 92.

With the SoCal Championships on November 8th at Chaffey College and the 3C2A State Championships on the horizon, both teams once again are prime for another successful run. Both teams will return to campus on Monday to focus on training and recovery.
