The San Diego Mesa women's water polo team defeated #1 ranked and undefeated Palomar to win the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference championship, 8-6 in overtime.
In a back and forth game, Mesa overcame an early 2 goal deficit to go ahead 5-4 at the end of the third quarter. Palomar was able to tie the game at 5 to force overtime. Mesa scored 2 goals in the first period of overtime and 1 in the second to secure the win.
This is Mesa's 7th championship in the past 10 years.
Mesa (17-7, 6-4) moves on to the SoCal Championships next week.
