Alina Fierro Signs with Northwestern Oklahoma State

May 30, 2014 - The Mesa Olympians Women's Volleyball is very proud to announce that defensive specialist, Alina Fierro will become a Ranger in the Fall of 2014.  Fierro will join former teammate, Alyssa Eicher at Northwestern Oklahoma State. The 5'6" libero will be a welcome asset to the DII college as they compete in the Great American Conference under head coach Gene Krieger.  Coach Krieger had this to say about Alina, "Alina is a unique defensive specialist in the way that she controls the court, communicates and never stops moving. She energizes her teammates and get the crowd going with her aggresive back row play."  It was Fierro's style of play that made her a component to Mesa's back to back Pacific Coast Athletic Conference titles and the team's back to back appearances at the California Community College Athletic Association regional tournament.  During her sophomore year, Fierro led her team in digs with 401 and scored a total of 61 aces during her two years with Mesa while also amassing 503 digs during that same time.  The PCAC 1st Team All Conference selection will be studying Psychology while at NOS.
