The Lady Olympians made it four wins in the last five contests in route to a 59-42 win over crosstown rival, Grossmont College. Mesa held Grossmont to 28% shooting with it's stifling defense including holding Grossmont to 1-13 from beyond the arc.
Mesa was led by freshman Whitney Shirley with 21 points on 5/9 shooting from 3 and freshman Gennie Quintard who had 18 points on 6/11 shooting from 3. Sophomore Taylor Mills had 15 points (10-10 from the free throw line), 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Mesa was 12-27 from beyond the arc (44%) and 17-21 (81%) from the free throw line.
"I'm extremely proud of these young ladies to have fought like they have after an 0-4 start," said Olympian Head Coach, Michael Hootner. "There's no quit in this team and that's what I love about them," concluded Coach Hootner.
