PACIFIC COAST ATHLETIC CONFERENCE NOMINEES

Sarah Crawford received Athlete of the Week (AOTW), a great accomplishment. The nominees for AOTW are for all women's sports, in spring and from eavery conference!

Jan. 30, 2017 HONORABLE MENTION- SAVANAH WALLACE

wallace, Mesa's freshman second baseman from Mt. Carmel High School, went 3-for-5 with 3 RBI's and home run in the Glendale Tournament, where the Olympians lost to Chaffey 5-4 and defending state champion Santiago Canyon 7-1.

FEB. 6, 2017 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK- SARAH CRAWFORD

Crawford, the Olympians sophomore pitcher and clean-up hitter who transferred from Whittier College after prepping at Clairemont High School, led the way in a doubleheader sweep over Golden West which gave the Olympians their first two wins of 2017.  Crawford picked up the pitching win with a complete game in the opener, a 16-1 five-inning, mercy rue victory, allowing 1 hit and 1 run while striking out 8 and walking 0.  in game 2, she pitched the final 1 1/3 perfect innings in relief to close out the victory, striking out 3 and walking 0.  At the plate she went 4-for-6 on the day with a triple, double and 4 RBI's.  She also reached base as a hit batter.

Feb. 13, 2017 HONORBALE MENTION- KRISTYN WHITLEY

Whitley, a sophomore shortstop from Madison High School and a transfer from Vanguard University who bats lead-off for Mesa, went 8-for-10 for the week as the Olympians split with Rio Hondo, winning 5-2 and losing 11-7, then dropped a 10-8 decision to Fullerton.  In the first game of the Rio Hondo doubleheader, Whitley went 3-for-3 with a home run, double, walk and 2 RBI's.  In game 2 she was 4-for-5 with another homer, a double and an RBI.  She went 1-for-2 in the Fullerton game with a sacrifice fly, a walk and 2 RBI's.  She scored 7 runs in the three games.
