2016 ACCOMPLISHMENTS- PCAC WOMENS ATHLETES OF THE WEEK AND ALL CONFERENCE

PCAC WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:

Week of Feb. 15, 2016-  Honorable mention to pitcher Nicole Dall.  Dall, a sophomore from Canyon High School in Canyon County, CA and a transfer from NCAA Division III Finlandia College in Hancock, Michigan, pitched MEsa to three victories during the week.  Dall Pitched a two-hit, five inning shutout to beat Barstow in the first game of a double header 10-0.  Came on in relief to throw two scoreless innings to pick up her second win of the week as the Olympians came from behind to turn back Barstow 8-4 in game 2.  And she earned her third win of the weel by striking out eight and throwing a five-hitter to shut out Rio Hondo 7-0.

Week of Feb. 22, 2016- Honorable mention to pitcher Nicole Dall who ran her win-loss record to 7-2 by throwing a one-hitter in a 3-0 win over Mt. San Jacinto.

Week of Feb. 29, 2016- SABRINA GONZALEZ WAS THE WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK!  GONZALEZ, A SOPHOMORE FIRST BASEMAN FROM MT. CARMEL HS, WAS 6-FOR-9 FOR MESA FOR THE WEEK.  SHE WENT 2-FOR-3 AND SINGLED TO DRIVE IN THE WINNING RUN IN A 4-3 WIN OVER SOUTHWESTERN, WAS 2-FOR-3 AND AGIN SINGLED TO DRIVE IN THE WINNING RUN IN A 4-2 VICTORY OVER VENTURA AND WENT 2-FOR-3 WITH AN RBI IN A 16-5 LOSS TO SANTA BARBARA CITY COLLEGE.  THE LOSS TO THE VAQUEROS SNAPPED A 10-GAME WINNING STREAK FOR THE OLYMPIANS.

Week of March 7, 2016- Honorable mention to Sarah Pullman, a sophomore and Mesa's leadoff hitter and shortstop out of Horizon Christian Academy, went 2-for-3 for the Olympians vs Grossmont, was 3-for-4 with an RBI in a 10-8 loss to Imperial Valley and went 1-for-3 with a double in a 6-4 loss to El Camino.  Mesa then bounced back to down Glendale 1-0 to complete a week during which Pullman had 10 putouts and 10 assists defensively.

Week of March 14, 2016- Honorable mention Anik Ribera, a sophomore designated hitter-pitcher from Coronado HS and a transfer from San Jose State, had a big game in the Olympians 2-1, nine inning loss to Palomar defending state champions, going 2-for-4 and doubling off the fence.  In a 6-2 win over San Diego City College, she doubled with the bases loaded to drive in three runs.

Week of April 4, 2016- Honorable Mention to Sabrina Gonzalez, went 4-gor8 last week in helping her team take command of second place at this juncture in the PCAC race.  She doubled to drive in both runs in a 2-1 win over Imperial Valley, going 2-for-3 and went 2-for-5 in a 15-9 loss to first-place and defending state champion Palomar.  She homered in the game against the premier pitcher in the conference, who also was last year's Most Valuable Pitcher in the state tournament.  Gonzalez hit the homerun around 220 feet!
