Men's Water Polo loses to Palomar despite comeback

October 2, 2014 - The Olympian men traveled to San Marcos for another PCAC match up against the Comets.  Heading into the match, Mesa was even with Palomar at 3-1 in conference play so it was no surprise that these two teams would have a close game.  Mesa was suffering with the loss of two key players but their secondary players stepped in with no hesitation.  Depsite trailing the Comets in the first quarter by three goals and then by five goals in the second, Mesa roared back in the third to close the gap to within three goals for a 10-13 score.  Then in the fourth quarter, the blue and gold rallied off five straight goals to tie the game 15-15 stunning Palomar but the rally was brought to a quick end when the Comets fired off the game's last goal to go ahead by one as time expired.

Leading Mesa's offense was freshman Bryan Bare with four goals, four steals and drawing six ejections while teammate Jesse Reiling fired off three goals of his own with a matching three steals.  Defensively, Brandon Jack was outstanding in the goal stopping 13 potential goals and getting a steal while Mario Ochoa stepped in for a quarter and saved four.

The Olympians are now 3-2 in conference and 10-7 overall.
