Mesa off to 9-0 Start after Beating Cerritos

Mesa, ranked #2 in Southern California beat Cerritos College on Friday, at Cerritos, 5-4 in come from behind fashion. This is Mesa's third 5-4 win this season (the other two being Ventura and College of the Desert).

Mesa and Cerritos both split the six singles matches and going into doubles the score was 3-3. Cerritos won at #1 doubles and Mesa won at 3. The deciding match came down to #2 doubles. Mesa was down a break at 5-4 when the team of Corentin Haenar and Filippo Bedin won 5 of the next 7 games to win 9-7 for the deciding point.

"It was a playoff atmosphere," said Olympian Head Coach, Michael Hootner. "I'm very proud of our guys. They are a very resilient group. But we have to keep improving as the target is on our backs every match," concluded Coach Hootner.
